Classic yacht for sale

If God has meant us to build plastic boats, he would have grown plastic trees!

George Coumantaros, not really a poor Greek shipowner at the time, won the game of baccarat in the Monaco Casino. And it is with that money, he commissioned this remarkable sailing yacht, Baccarat! You can see on all details and her heavy construction, she was built to last.

In 1953 Abeking and Rasmussen has built Baccarat under construction number 4879. Designnumber from Sparkman Stephens is 1097. Oak ribs, massive teak deck and double planked mahogany hull. Originally Baccarat was used for the Burmuda Classic Regatta under New York Yacht Club flag, later as a family yacht in Greece and Antigua. I have owned her since 1996 and for the first 12 years I sailed in the Netherlands, but travelled the Med ever since, now lying in Greece. Owning this wonderful family yacht, was a live changing event. One of the best things I ever did!

(Sorry for all my Sparkman Stephens friends, but to me Baccarat is the most beautiful S&S design I have ever seen.)
